I have been a psychotherapist in the Toronto area for 20 years, specializing in relationships, couples’ counseling, depression/anxiety and lack of direction.
I have a Masters Degree and am a psycho-spiritual therapy graduate of the Transformational Arts College in Toronto. I have a certificate in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy from the University of Toronto, an advanced certificate in EFT and I am listed as a certified EFT practitioner on the website run by the founder of EFT, Gary Craig. My main emphasis is on EFT and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
In addition to my private practice, I am the Bereavement Coordinator at one of Toronto’s largest hospices, run by Better Living Health and Community Services, a non-profit agency that has for over 40 years been providing programs and services to support individuals, families, and communities in living healthy, happy and independent lives.
I look at my clients holistically, i.e. taking into consideration all aspects of their lives including their physical health. There are many studies which show spiritual and nutritional (see the article on nutrition and mood on this website) factors directly bear on our mental health. I often include coaching with the therapy, to help people formulate action plans to move forward with their goals, whether that’s a new relationship, more balanced life or job success. I also spend some time going over nutrition and lifestyle as these can sabotage efforts to feel better.
A sense of spirituality is an important part of my life, and I come from a Buddhist perspective which is essential that all of our unhappiness and suffering is the result of the way in which we interact with our world, and that this view can be changed without changing external situations.
